Greenwood Mennonite School

Career Training & Instruction

Greenwood Mennonite School is pleased to offer an

opportunity for our high school students in the area of vocational

training, the GMS Career Training and Instruction (CTI)

Program. Our standard academic program has been intentionally

designed to prepare students for college, and we have had much

success in doing so. We understand, however, that a certain

percentage of students desire to begin their careers when leaving

high school with little or no further schooling, and we want to meet

the needs of these students and families as well.

In partnership with Penn Foster Career School, an online

educational institution, and with local businesses. A student that chooses GMS CTI will be able to graduate with training as well as hands-on experience in their desired field. They may also be eligible for certification from Penn Foster, depending on the field chosen.

A typical CTI student will complete one or more online courses

during his or her 10th or 11th grade year. He or she will also

work with a local business for several hours each week during the

11th grade year. During his or her senior year, the student would

be allowed to leave school early to work in that field and could

receive credit for doing so along with the invaluable experience

gained. Each student would, of course, still complete all needed

courses at GMS to receive a standard High School Diploma. This

will be considered an integral part of our curriculum and there will

not be any additional charges to parents.

The courses listed on the left are available through Penn Foster,

and we will do our best to arrange for appropriate field

experience with local businesses. Several business have already

expressed their desire to work with our students.
