Since GMS first opened its doors in 1928, 840 students have passed
through those doors and have scattered to the uttermost parts of the
world. Eighty years later, in 2008, GMS alumni can be found on five
continents, 13 countries, one Canadian province, and 34 states. They
come from very diverse social, economic, and religious backgrounds
with virtually every Protestant denomination represented. Many have
furthered their education and have become teachers, missionaries,
professors, airline pilots, engineers, business men, doctors,
aircraft mechanics, farmers, lawyers, nurses, artists, journalists,
social workers, etc.
(No astronauts……..yet!)
Could Nevin Bender, the first principal of GMS, ever imagined, in
his wildest dreams, the impact the little brown school house on Rt.
36 in Greenwood, Delaware, would have on the world?

“ Attending GMS was very formative to my development, both
educationally and spiritually. From an early age my faith was
nurtured in a caring Christian environment, not only at home but at
school as well. I felt that every teacher left an impact on me in
one way or another. It was amazing to have superiors take a personal
interest in every aspect of my life.”
